Catamaran Driver / Wildlife Guide

  • Driving a 40-foot double catamaran powered by an electric motor with up to 30 passengers
  • Making sure the boat is safe to depart and getting guests ready for the tour
  • Care for guest safety and comfort, including the aesthetic and upkeep of dock infrastructure and equipment
  • Telling historical facts, showing wildlife and explaining the area to guests
  • Supporting other departments (dock, grounds, etc.) in their responsibilities when required in between tours and while waiting for customers
  • Maintaining positive interactions with guests and co-workers throughout the day, including at meal times and during unscheduled periods
  • Participation in on-going “bear aware” & wildlife training provided by River Safari

You should:

  • Have sound judgement, and decision-making skills relevant to outdoor leadership
  • Have experience operating motor boats
  • Be physically fit
  • Be excited about working and living in a small mountain town
  • Be willing and able to become familiar with BC flora & fauna
  • Be comfortable in a dynamic team environment with frequent guest interactions
  • Be well groomed, courteous, honest, and most important, reliable

Customer Service Agent

  • Preparing customers for tours
  • Work along side the Front Desk staff, interchanging roles when needed
  • Provide guests with appropriate weather/safety clothing and equipment
  • Greeting guests as they enter the dock and answering any questions
  • Help guides prepare their boats for tour
  • Assist guests onto and off boats
  • Maintain cleanliness of dock
  • Communicate with the Front Desk and step in when needed
  • Organize and store all clothing and safety equipment
  • Assisting with departures and arrivals (catching and securing boats)

Front Desk Agent

  • Greeting guests upon arrival and providing a friendly welcome
  • Providing information to the guests about our different safaris and answering any questions
  • Completing daily sales report and balance till
  • Follow daily opening and closing procedures
  • Taking payments and completing data entry into Excel Spreadsheet
  • Maintaining a smooth schedule of departures and arrivals for all tours
  • Receiving calls, conducting reservations and verifying existing bookings
  • Communicating with guides via radio
  • Helping Customer Service Team prepare guests for their tour
  • Maintain cleanliness on the dock (outside & inside)
  • Maintaining an organized and tidy workspace
  • Work effectively with team members maintaining open communication

Café and Restaurant Server

  • Complete daily opening and closing procedures
  • Process cash and card payments through iPad system
  • Serve food and drinks to guests
  • Clear tables and maintain a clean and presentable workspace
  • Serve customers efficiently with food and drink orders
  • Assist in preparation of cafe and counters before, during and at the end of service
  • Offer customers amazing standards of customer service and care
  • Work effectively and maintain open communication with the kitchen staff

Skills, qualities and experience:

  • Having a friendly and engaging personality, a good communicator, able to work under pressure
  • Comfortable working with members of the public, able to initiate conversations and provide a sincere welcome and enjoy providing good service
  • Need to be willing to learn, take instruction and work under own initiative, supporting other team members and able to multitask
  • Be able to work on your feet for most of the day and may be required to lift and carry trays and crockery, restocking shelves etc
  • An effective, well organised and efficient team player with a strong sense of discipline and urgency
  • Knowledge of till operation and cash handling
  • Trained Barista or with previous catering experience advantageous

Head Cook/ Kitchen Hand/ Line & Prep Cook

  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables and preparing sauces)
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • Answer, report and follow Lead Hand instructions
  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that group food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Skills, qualities and experience:

  • Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook (an asset but not required)
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
  • Familiar with industry’s best practices

Marketing and Sales Representative

  • Develop and maintain relationships with other tourist-oriented businesses providing brochures, coupons, posters and giveaways with the goal of creating contacts & business partners
  • Encourage co-marketing in Hotels & Visitors Centers
  • Represent our business, sell our product and proactively convince other companies to collaborate with us

Skills, qualities and experience required:

  • Creative, Outgoing, Motivated and able to take initiative
  • Very good communication skills
  • Must have valid Driver’s License

Janitor/Cleaner

  • General duties: Clean windows, sweep outside dock and ramp, mop in photo and life jacket tent when raining, sweep and mop inside, wipe surfaces, clean up after groups, clean chairs and stools, empty garbage bins, vacuum window sills
  • Bathrooms (especially before and after large bus groups): Clean toilets, restock toilet paper and hand towels, clean mirrors, sweep and mop floors, empty garbage bins, wipe surfaces and clean basins
  • Kitchen: Sweep and mop floors, empty garbage bins
  • Coffee Station (Please help cafe when groups are in): Coffee and hot water full, restock teas and sugar, check milk and cream levels, refill drinking water
  • Fire box: Restock fire wood (shared job with grounds crew), Keep fire burning and regulate temperature, when cold or raining always be sure the fire is burning for guests
  • Staff room: Sweep and mop regularly, Keep tidy

Grounds Maintenance and Construction

  • Assist with any construction or workshop related jobs
  • Parking area: Keep tidy, Clear of rubbish and Pressure wash dust and weeds away
  • Trim, water and fertilise plants
  • Light Mosquito coils & look after any other mosquito
  • Stock firewood at house and dock
  • Sweep Driveways and Parking Lot (needs a lot of attention in this busy period)
  • Tidy around workshop, between building and work sites
  • Pressure Washing Station: Spray down area to keep sand and weeds away
  • Entrance & Ramp: Sweep entrance (flowers are always falling so a constant job)
  • Collect rubbish around the whole property
